TASHKENT, 24 April – A group of 10 students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) participated in an international conference at the National University of Uzbekistan (NUUz) as part of their Global Outreach Program (GOP). The program aims to provide students with new experiences while broadening their perspectives on the global industry.
A delegation of undergraduate students of Real Estate and members of Persatuan Pengurusan dan Penilaian Harta Tanah (PEHARTA), ranging from Year 2 and Year 3 students from the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FABU), recently gained global exposure as the outcome of the mobility program. By offering international opportunities for academic engagement, the program demonstrates UTM’s strong commitment to the student development process. The program’s specific goal is to prepare students for international professional skills development and multicultural scholarly experiences.
In addition to providing participants with an unprecedented opportunity to extend their scholarly horizons, this experience facilitated profound connections and information exchange with individuals from Uzbekistan and other participating nations, including South Korea and Russia.
Leading the delegation were lecturers from FABU, FABU, PMgr. Sr Dr. Azizah Ismail, Head of Department of Real Estate, and Dr. Fitriyah Razali, Program Advisor and Advisor to the PEHARTA Student Council.
We express our sincerest appreciation to Prof. Umarov Abduvakhob Tursunovichvich, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and Prof. Dr. Rejapov Khayrillo Khikmatullaevich, Head of Department (Finance and Credit) at the NUUz, for their unwavering assistance and support throughout the program.

This prestigious event was held in conjunction with the 108th anniversary of the NUUz named after Mirzo Ulugbek. The goal of attending the international conference on sustainable economic development was to increase participants’ knowledge concerning economic and environmental issues facing the world, particularly in developing nations like Uzbekistan.

During their time there, the students attended classes and also immersed themselves in the local atmosphere. Together with students from the NUUz, they experienced the teaching style, academic environment, and cultural exchange in everyday lessons.

This journey allowed them to communicate more confidently, gain fresh perspectives, and most importantly, build meaningful connections and lasting friendships with their Uzbekistan peers. It was truly an unforgettable and enriching experience for all.
In addition to student engagement, UTM lecturers were also invited as guest lecturers during the program. They conducted interactive sessions, promoted UTM and FABU, and engaged in meaningful academic exchanges. One of the highlights was participating in a mock viva session for a PhD candidate, which provided valuable insights into Uzbekistan’s research culture and academic rigour.

The visit also included a productive meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, where discussions on future partnerships were initiated. Universiti Teknologi Malaysia looks forward to further academic and research collaborations with the National University of Uzbekistan in the near future.
