PONTIAN, Feb 20 – YYoung storytellers from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sg. Boh completed their creative writing journey during the second meeting of the “Under the Sea Tales: Creative Writing Programme.” This half-day session followed the writing workshop held last October, which coincided with the launch of the Language Academy Foster School Project.
Guided by eight staff members from the Language Academy, who served as facilitators, the students dedicated the day to finishing their storybooks. They participated in a reading session with Nuramalina Mohd Sharif, a teacher from SK Sg. Boh, engaged in collaborative writing activities with their peers, and concluded the program with reflective discussions with their facilitators. By the end of the session, they successfully completed four unique underwater-themed stories, marking a significant milestone in their creative journey.
As part of the program, students received two special kits to further support their storytelling endeavors. The Storybook Kit, which included several storybooks and a notebook sponsored by MyLinE, aimed to cultivate their love for reading and writing. Additionally, they received a Ramadhan Kit, complete with kuih raya and duit raya, generously sponsored by donors from within and outside Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
These stories will be included in the Under the Sea Tales collection, which also features six additional stories from SK Tiram Duku, another foster school under the Language Academy. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 2025 and will focus on illustrating the stories, with plans for publication by the end of the year.
