UTM FABU Bridges Academia and Industry at Successful Engagement Session 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 June – The Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FABU), successfully hosted the Academic Industry Engagement Session 2024, an event aimed at fostering collaboration, enhancing research, and promoting innovation within the faculty and industry. The agenda highlighted the potential of industry experts sharing their knowledge to explore contemporary issues within the construction industry.

The launching ceremony was officiated by the Director of the Quantity Surveying Department, Sr Dr. Muzani Mustapa, at The Sixth at The Sage, Residensi UTMKL. Esteemed guests included supervisors from students’ internship placement companies and faculty members.

Sr Dr. Muzani emphasized the event’s significance in bridging the gap between academia and industry. “This event is crucial for encouraging research and innovation while fostering collaboration with industries. The Academic Industry Engagement Session 2024 embodies our collective pursuit of knowledge and innovation. By bringing together academia and industry, we aim to create a platform for knowledge exchange and partnership, igniting curiosity and unity around pioneering ideas.”

The event featured detailed discussions between industry experts, academic staff, and students, exploring significant issues in the construction industry. The discussions aimed to highlight the latest practices to address these issues with minimal impact on project performance and to foster industry-academic collaboration. Esteemed academicians and industry experts delivered insightful ideas and suggestions on project costing, price variations, site management, and construction technology adoption, exploring cutting-edge research and its practical applications.
