Kuala Lumpur, 21st Feb. – The Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) has successfully organized the annual University of Tsukuba-MJIIT Joint Seminar 2024 at MJIIT. The event was held for two days and was a part of the Master of Sustainability and Environment Sciences (MMJJ) Joint Degree Program (JDP) with the University of Tsukuba.

The MMJJ program aims to develop experts who can contribute to solving complicated global issues, especially in tropical Asia, through sustainable and environmental sciences, using a jointly supervised system that takes advantage of the strengths of the two universities.

The joint seminar is a part of the MMJJ curriculum. Its objective is to provide a platform for the students to present their current research work to esteemed faculty members from both universities. The seminar aims to improve their Master Projects 1 and 2. A total of 14 students from Malaysia, Japan, and China, consisting of 1st and 2nd-year students, presented their research proposals and progress. The research topic primarily focuses on environmental issues, sustainability, energy optimization, and life sciences with new research development.

On the first day of the joint seminar, the Head of Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Dayang Norulfairuz Abang Zaidel, officially welcomed the delegation from the University of Tsukuba. The delegation consisted of academicians from the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences who were the supervisors and co-supervisors of the students who participated in the seminar.

In addition to the joint seminar, several other activities and meetings were organized, including the JDP Steering Committee Meeting, Campus Asia 6, and a social excursion to Kuala Lumpur city. On the final day, a closing ceremony was held, and certificates were awarded to all participants and the student committee.
