IFE UTM, Embarks on Pioneering Collaboration with ISE, UNITEN

Bangi, 25th Sept — In a momentous stride towards propelling the energy landscape into a sustainable future, the Institute of Future Energy, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (IFE-UTM), paid a return visit to the HiCoE Institute of Sustainable Energy, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (ISE-UNITEN) on the 25th of September, 2023.

ISE UNITEN is recognized as Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HiCoE) by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia in August 2022.

The IFE team, comprising accomplished researchers with diverse backgrounds in chemical, electrical, mechanical, and ocean thermal energy engineering, converged to engage in a dynamic exchange of ideas. The discussions were marked by enthusiasm and a shared vision to pioneer the next frontier of sustainable energy solutions.

The visit culminated in a series of fruitful deliberations, laying the groundwork for an exciting array of collaborative research projects. The proposed ventures are poised to leverage the strengths of both institutions, harnessing the collective expertise to tackle pressing challenges in the energy sector.

A highlight of the visit was the exploration of opportunities for IFE researchers to join the esteemed research lab at the National Energy Centre (NEC), UNITEN. This integration promises a synergistic fusion of knowledge and resources, setting the stage for high-impact breakthroughs.

“We are elated to forge this collaborative alliance between IFE-UTM and ISE-UNITEN. Together, we are poised to ascend to greater heights in our quest for achieving Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2050. This is a pivotal step in our shared commitment to a sustainable and energy-efficient future,” remarked by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Md Pauzi Abdullah, Director of IFE.

A 600 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is fully recharged by using off-peak tariff and fully utilized during the on-peak period.

This partnership bears testament to the collective determination to drive innovation and pioneer sustainable solutions. The combined efforts of these two esteemed institutions are set to leave an indelible mark on the future of energy.
