JOHOR BAHRU, 8th August – Delegations from the HiCoE Institute of Sustainable Energy (ISE) at the National Energy Centre (NEC), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), embarked on a visionary journey as they visited the Centre of Hydrogen Energy (CHE) at the Institute of Future Energy (IFE), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, on August 8th, 2023.

This collaboration holds the promise of pioneering cutting-edge energy solutions that could reshape the future of sustainable power.

Since its establishment in 2012, ISE UNITEN has been at the forefront of renewable energy research, garnering recognition as a HiCoE (Higher Education Centre of Excellence).

The ISE UNITEN delegation, led by Ts. Dr. Hassan Mohammed, included members of the ISE team such as Ts. Dr. Bidattul Sirat, Dr. Nur Ikhmal, Mr. Mohd Eqwan, and other esteemed researchers.

On the flip side, the session was inaugurated by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Md Pauzi Abdullah, the Director of IFE, followed by an illuminating presentation by Prof. Dr. Aishah Abdul Jalil, the Director of CHE.

The event saw the presence of distinguished CHE researchers including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anwar Johari, Dr. Tuan Amran Tuan Abdullah, Dr. Johari Kamarudin, Dr. Norafneeza Norazahar, and other eminent scholars.

Central to this collaborative endeavour is the exploration of futuristic energy harvesting technologies, with several pivotal projects taking centre stage:

  1. Hybrid Solar Advancements: The teams are dedicated to developing solar modules capable of harnessing a broader spectrum of sunlight, a crucial step towards enhanced energy generation through more efficient solar power.
  2. Innovative Wind Energy: This partnership seeks to optimize wind energy utilization by designing turbines capable of functioning effectively even in low wind conditions, thus expanding the scope of wind power applications.
  3. Biohydrogen Generation: Leveraging the potential of biological processes, the collaboration aims to produce hydrogen through environmentally friendly means, contributing to cleaner and sustainable energy alternatives.
  4. Smart Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Control: The collaboration’s efforts extend to refining the control mechanisms of fuel cells and hydrogen energy systems, with the goal of making them more intelligent and efficient.

Beyond the realm of research, this collaboration envisions offering consultancy services to address pressing energy challenges.

A notable highlight of this partnership is the emphasis on hydrogen research, a focal point that holds the potential to revolutionize the energy landscape and catalyze significant advancements.

As this remarkable research visit concludes, the anticipation heightens for the groundbreaking outcomes that this partnership between ISE UNITEN and CHE IFE might yield.

Together, they stand poised to lay the foundation for a greener, more sustainable energy future.
