PONTIAN, April 4 – A Training of Trainers (ToT) session was conducted to prepare 21 UTM student facilitators from different faculties for the second half of the Toys for Friends program, which is scheduled to take place at SK Sg. Boh on April 13, 2023.
The session was held physically at Bilik Seminar 2, Language Academy, FSSH, UTM, and was led by two committee members, Ms Atiqah Shaharuddin and Ms Siti Khadijah Abdul Wahab, who are also the chief facilitators of Toys for Friends.
Dr. Salwa Abdul Wahid, the program’s advisor, Ms. Nur Hidayah Mohd Sharif, the head of the CSR program, Ms Nur Hazwani Mohd Muhridza, the secretary, and two members from the Media Unit, Ms Syamimi Al-wani Yushalani and Mr Ahmad Fadzli Abdul Samah, were also in attendance.
Mr. Mohd Azhar Mohd Salleh@Khalid, the assistant director from Johor State Education Department (JPNJ) was specifically invited to help train the facilitators because he has extensive knowledge and experience involving underprivileged students.
The first part of the training was En Azhar introducing himself, and went around the room and asked the student facilitators to introduce themselves.
He then gave an overview of the demographic information of the students. The training continued with interactive activities such as songs and games, to enable the facilitators to understand the types of activities they can carry out with school students.
The facilitators had fun participating in these activities, and the trainer concluded his session by stressing the importance of effective communication with underprivileged students to ensure the success of the program.
The second part of the training was led by Ms Siti Khadijah Binti Abdul Wahab from the Activity’s Unit, who briefed the facilitators about the activities that were prepared for the students and gave them a clear overview of what was expected of them on the day. The facilitators were also given the opportunity to ask questions.
Overall, the Training of Trainers program was a success, and the student facilitators left feeling well-prepared and motivated to make a positive impact on the underprivileged students’ lives during the upcoming event.
