On 25th March 2022, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) participated in a working visit to Sydney, Australia to promote Malaysia’s mobility programmes. 

The event was organized by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) in collaboration with Education Malaysia Australia (EMA).

One of the main objectives of the working visit is to tap on the New Colombo Plan (NCP) mobility programme.

It is a fund offered by the Australian government for Australian students to study overseas.

The NCP mobility programme funds about 10,000 students every year to 40 countries, including Malaysia.

UTM, represented by Associate Director of Global Education and Experience, UTM International, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin bin Abu Hassan, visited selected universities in Sydney in an effort to introduce Malaysia as a destination for mobility programmes and to explore other potential collaborations.

Upon arrival in Sydney, all delegates were welcomed by the Acting Consul, Madam Kartini Tajul Urus at the Consulate of Malaysia, Sydney.

Then, a meeting with various government agencies were held to discuss strategies to increase collaboration between Malaysia and Australia, particularly in education sector.

Among the agencies that participated in the discussion were Director Tourism Malaysia, Sydney, Tuan Razali Tuan Omar; Director of People’s Trust Council or Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Australia, Mr. Ahmad Zuriat Ahmad Tejuddin and CEO, EMGS, Mr. Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin.

Eight public universities participated in the working visit (UM, UTM, UKM, USM, UPM UNIMAS, UUM, and UPSI), including Chairman of International Directors’ Committee who was representing Universiti Malaya (UM), Prof. Dr. Yong Zulina Zubairi.
