UTM seals LoC with Asia-Pacific Innovation Center (APIC), DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation

JOHOR BAHRU, 13 July — Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) through its global prominence strategy has set its sight in developing and maintaining smart partnership with renowned institutions and universities around the world.

Recently, UTM through its School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering has signed a Letter of Collaboration (LoC) with the Asia-Pacific Innovation Center (APIC), DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation.

This was to encourage the academic, research cooperation and talent development between the two institutions, specifically in the areas of Data Science together with DHL Applied Analytics.

The signing ceremony of LoC was held via an online platform, Zoom with the UTM campus in Johor Bahru and the Asia Pacific Innovation Center.

In addition to LoC signing, both parties have also officially launched the DHL Applied Analytics Hub located in Iskandar Region, Johor Bahru.

This Hub aims to be a venue to host business development and networking meetings to ideate, incubate and create cutting-edge analytics projects for customers in collaboration with the DHL Group Divisions.

During this ceremony, UTM was represented by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ts Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, while the Asia Pacific Innovation Center was represented by the Vice President, Asia Pacific Innovation Center, Mr. Justin Baird.

DHL Applied Analytics was represented by Mr. Prerit Mishra, Head of Analytics.

The whole ceremony was witnessed by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB), Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad and delegations from UTM, APIC, and IIB.

Based on both high commitment and active involvements since 2019, the institutions have agreed to sign a 2-year long LoC.

Prof. Datuk Ts Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail said in his speech that this memorandum translated the initiatives of academic and research of knowledge that will lead to many benefits to both institutions.

This strategic cooperation will allow the sharing and exchanges of knowledge, idea and visions between academicians, researchers and students from UTM and data scientists from DHL Applied Analytics.

This is an effort to create a collaborative academic, research, and expertise in the data science and computing field generally.

Through this cooperation, it is hoped that UTM and DHL Applied Analytics will further strengthen the prestige and position of both institutions nationally and globally.
