Applied Algebra and Analysis Group (AAAG), Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Frontier Materials Research Alliance, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration UTM International and UTMAlumni had organized a UTM Global Alumni: AAAG International Seminar Series.
This was the first of its kind organized by AAAG through an online platform to invite alumni from various countries and places of work to share their knowledge and research. The AAAG International Seminar Series was one of the initiatives to strengthen the networking with the alumni and give them the opportunity to share their current research. In addition, it was also for the students to get some additional ideas and knowledge that might help their research.
The AAAG International Seminar Series were divided into two series which conducted on 1 March 2021 and 15 March 2021. For the first series, there were two speakers that shared their research outputs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sanaa Mohamed Saleh Omer and the second speaker, Asst. Prof. Dr. Faiz Muhammad Khan. The first speaker was from Department of Mathematics, University of Benghazi, Libya who presented her research entitled “Some Graphs and Their Generalizations,” whereas, the second speaker was from Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Swat, Pakistan, who presented on “Applications of Soft Sets in Decision Making Problems”. Both speakers were supervised by an AAAG member, Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin for their PhD study.
The second series comprised of two speakers which were Asst. Prof. Dr. Hidayat Ullah Khan from Department of Mathematics, University of Malakand, Pakistan, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Wahab Kareem Sangawai from Department of Applied Computer, Charmo University, Iraq. The first speaker had presented on “Crisp Set Theory vs. Fuzzy Set Theory: A Comparison” and the second speaker had presented on “Circular Slit Maps of Multiply Connected Regions with Applications to Brain Image Processing”. Dr Hidayat Ullah Khan was supervised by Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin while Prof. Ali Wahab Kareem by Prof. Dr. Ali Hassan Mohamed Murid.
These two series of AAAG International Seminar Series were attended and benefited by around 86 participants including academic staff, researchers, and postgraduate and undergraduate students. Hence, that managed to bring AAAG and UTM staff and students together with other 15 institutions from seven different countries which were Malaysia, Indonesia, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan. This international seminar was one of the many initiatives made by Applied Algebra and Analysis Group (AAAG), to have continuous networking with the alumni.
