Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer (PERSAKA) coordinated a virtual delegation program with the computing clubs of research universities (RU) of Malaysia which consisted of Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur branch (UTM KL). This program was led by Nursyakirah Roslan and was conducted on the 20th of March 2021 (Saturday) from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm using Google Meet as our platform.
Virtual Delegation 2021 was officiated by Dr Muhammad Iqbal bin Tariq, PERSAKA’s club advisor. A short video of UTM and the School of Computing was played to introduce our school and university to the others. We were also joined by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suhaila Zainudin, PERMATA’s (UKM) club advisor. She was also looking forward to more collaborations with UTM in the near future.
Our main objectives for this program were to create diplomacy and bond between PERSAKA (UTM), PEKOM (UM), PERTAMA (UKM), XTROVIA (USM), ComSSA (UPM) and COMSTAR (UTM KL) for future collaborations. Also, to exchange views regarding events, the way of handling pandemics and ideas and perspectives on student societies’ . The topics that have been discussed were “How do schools manage Online Distance Learning (ODL)”, “The challenges faced during the pandemic”, “Programs or activities handled throughout the semester during the pandemic” and “Program and activities for future collaborations”.
The first part of the program was a more formal event as we had both the advisors for PERSAKA and PERTAMA but the second session after the lunch break was a more relaxed sharing session between the committee of the respective computing clubs. The program ended with a photo session and promises of future program and activity collaborations.
