24 January 2020: UTM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) to foster mutual understanding in research development and education. UTM was represented by the Dean of Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Abdull Rahim Mohd Yusoff and Director of Ibnu Sina Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (ISI-SIR), Prof. Dr. Hadi Nur at the signing ceremony of the MoU between UTM and Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) in Malang, Indonesia.
The UM counterpart was Prof. Dr. AH. Rofi’uddin (Rector), Prof. Dr. Hadi Suwono (Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences), and Dr. Evi Eliyanah (Director of International Relations). This MoU would be a legal standing to enhance cooperation between UTM and UM.
UTM and UM have been actively involved in student and staff exchange activities since 2016 after the Letter of Cooperation (LoC) between both universities were signed in 2016. Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) has been a significant supporter of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia in higher education under the Indonesia-Malaysia Research Consortium (I’MRC) platform. The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in research and education. They also agreed to strengthen communication between the two universities to exchange expertise and experiences in the administrative fields.
Following the signing ceremony of the MoU, there will be more elaborate discussions and activities conducted by both parties.
