The Student College Committee, Tun Dr Ismail College, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia organised a program entitled ‘People In Need People Offer’ (PINPO) on 23rd November 2019 for the second time throughout the committee services. This program was held with the cooperation from UTM Alumni. The PINPO programme is about what someone can do in order to help the people who have inability to help themselves. So to lighten their burden even for a moment we organized this programme at Rumah Anak Yatim Kasih Setanggi, one of the orphanage homes in Johor Bahru. This home only housed orphans of seven year’s old and below only.
Our arrival at Rumah Anak Yatim Kasih Setanggi was welcomed by the owner of the house Mrs Juhaida Maskom. She was touched by our action of organizing a programme in order to help people with special needs. Without wasting our time first of all we introduced a simple exercise to the children to capture their motivation for other activities after this. This simple exercise was conducted by Muhammad Syafik bin Rahmat, one of the UTM Alumni. After completing the simple exercise, the children were divided into seven groups and were monitored by two facilitators.
There were four activities prepared by the Student Committee for the children. The activities were cupcake dressing, mini plant decoration, guest the word and colour the animal shape. Each of the activity was conducted by UTM Alumni and other volunteer students. Around 11.30 a.m. we finished our activities and went to the main event of the programme which was cake cutting event in conjunction with the Children’s Day 2019.
At 1.30 p.m. closing ceremony was held and was closed by Lt Kol Prof Madya Dr Mohd Noor Azli bin Hj. Ali Khan, principal of Tun Dr Ismail College. The donation for the orphanage house was delivered at this time in the form of money and other necessities for their daily routine. It was a great experience for all the participants since from this programme we can develop our spirit of love and empathy in us.
