Using Augmented Reality and ICT in Supporting English among Rural Learner

11 April 2019 – An academic event has been successfully organised by Jawatankuasa Kolej Mahasiswa Kolej Tun Dr Ismail (JKM KTDI) called “Augmented Reality and ICT in Supporting English among Rural Learner” (ASPIRE) at Dewan Resak, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. This event was held on 11 April 2019 in collaboration with KEJORA/I-CARE and PERSAKA. There were 18 schools from Johor who participated in the programme and each school was represented by a group consisting 1 teacher and 4 students. The successful running of the event was made possible through a strong team of 25 crew members from Kolej Tun Dr Ismail.

ASPIRE is both a learning and competition event in which each school needs to make a video slide about novels that they learn in schools. The video slide needs to be sent to the judges to be evaluated and transformed into Augmented Reality (AR). There were also AR Talk Session and a Robot Show that taught students about the modern technology. The objective of this programme is to expose students to modern technology and to teach them about the new method to study by using gadgets. This event focused more on the English subject. At the end of the programme, the students who participated in the programme have enhanced their understanding on the subject through the activities conducted which has successfully achieved the programme objective.
