The Wireless Communication Centre welcome a new director when Prof. Dr. Jafri Din was officially appointed as the new Director of Wireless Communication Centre (WCC) on 1st of June 2019. Prof. Dr. Jafri received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Tri-State University, Indiana, USA in 1988 and his Ph.D. from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor, Malaysia in 1997. He has a vast administrative experience, assuming different academic responsibilities and posts in UTM. Prof. Dr. Jafri was previously the Head of Communication Engineering Department, Undergraduate Academic Manager and Deputy Dean (Development) in Faculty of Electrical Engineering from 2008 till 2015. He was later the Deputy Director of WCC for Research and Innovation. His research activities have been correlated to the fields of radio wave propagation, satellite propagation, High Altitude Platform Station, satellite TV broadcasting, Weather Radar and sound techniques for fisheries industry. Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Jafri for this appointment.

The former WCC Director, Prof. Dr. Tharek Abd Rahman has now been appointed as Senior Fellow of WCC. All members of WCC would like to express the deepest gratitude and appreciation to Prof. Dr. Tharek for his many contributions towards developing WCC to become a forefront research centre in Malaysia.
