JOHOR BAHRU – An annual dinner of the School of Computing was organized by Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer, PERSAKA on 13 April 2019. This year annual dinner was called Malam Apresiasi Sekolah Komputer 2019, also known as MASKOM’19. The theme for MASKOM’19 was Cultural Medley. MASKOM’19 was held at Dewan Kencanapuri, Pulai Spring Resort from 8.00 p.m. until 11.00 p.m.

The dinner was launched by Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohammed Rafiq, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. The program was also attended by Prof. Dr. Abdul Samad, Chair of the School of Computing, Dr. Iqbal Tariq, Dr. Dayang Norhayati, Miss Yap Sin Yee, student representative of School of Computing and also Mr. Amirul Syahmi, the president of PERSAKA 2018/2019.

About 16 lecturers and 166 students from the School of Computing attended the dinner with a variety of cultural attire around the world. Some were wearing Baju Kurung, Baju Kebaya, Kimono and even Punjabi clothing.

. The event was enlivened with a theatre performance by Teens and Theatre which consisted of UTM students. Not only theatre performance, a band which consisted of students from the School of Computing called Aquastic band also performed three songs throughout the dinner. The students and lecturers enjoyed a variety of delicious food and mouth-watering desserts served by the resort.

The award ceremony slot was held when the students were enjoying their food. The award was given to the students who accomplished Semester I 2018/2019 with flying colors for each course and year of study that is, from 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year students. Best student awards were also given to the 4th year students who accomplished a great academic and non-academic achievement through their study at the School of Computing.

The dinner was ended with souvenirs given to the VIP guests and photo shoot session around the resort. We thank everyone who joined MASKOM’19 and we hope that this program will be held again in the future.
