Global recognition for UTM lecturers at the Asian CHI Symposium, ACM SIGCHI Conference, Glasgow

Assoc. Prof. Dr Masitah Ghazali from School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering, and Dr Haliyana Khalid from Azman Hashim International Business School, recently were selected to present their research work at the Asian Computer Human Interaction (CHI) Symposium 2019, and received the SIGCHI 2019 Asian Development Travel Grant. This symposium is part of the ACM SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems – the premier international conference of Human-Computer Interaction. The event was held in Glasgow, Scotland from 5th May until 9th May 2019.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Masitah is the Chair of myHCI-UX society; the Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) chapter, that gathers academician and industry partners in Human-Computer Interaction and UX field.  This society is a registered local chapter under the Association Computing Machinery (ACM), the world’s largest educational and scientific society, uniting computing educators, researchers and professionals.

Apart from presenting their research work, they also represented Kuala Lumpur chapter at the ACM Special Interest Group of Computer-Human Interaction (SIGCHI) Local Chapters meeting during the conference.

To date, myHCI-UX has academic representatives from both public and private universities across Malaysia. They also welcome participation from industry partners.  The group provides consultation to government sectors and private entities, carry out research, organize networking events and trainings.
