UTM Urban and Regional Planning Students, Faculty of Built Environment, Won First and Second Prize at the ”Problem Analysis of Habitat Scenario 2014” Competition

Two (2) groups of Third Year Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning students, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, won the First and Second prize at the “Problem Analysis of Habitat Scenario 2014” competition, organised by the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government.  The competition was held at the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development on 4th December 2014 in conjunction with “World Habitat Day 2014” with the theme ‘Social Urbanism’.

This annual event saw participation in three (3) categories, Lower Secondary, Upper Secondary and Public Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA).  Eighty seven (87) groups from IPTAs in Malaysia took part in the competition, with only three (3) groups from the IPTA category selected to compete in the final round, namely, two (2) groups from UTM and 1 group from UiTM.

The first prize winning team from UTM, with their project entitled ‘Effect of Urban Migration’ received a cheque worth RM5,000.00 and certificates, while the second prize winners, also from UTM received a cheque for RM3,000.00 and certificates for their entry entitled ‘Urban Poverty’ .

Winners of the competition received their prizes from YBhg. Datuk Yong Bun Fou, the Deputy Secretary General (Policy and Development), Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government.
