Automotive Development Centre, UTM signs MoU with Airestec Innovations

JOHOR BAHRU, 21 OCTOBER: – A Memorandom of Understanding (MoU) signing event between UTM and Airestec Innovations Sdn Bhd has taken place at Permata Ballroom, Puteri Pacific Hotel, Johor Bahru.

 The event was graced and witnessed by Vice Chancellor of UTM, Y. Bhg. Prof. Ir. Dr. Wahid Bin Omar and Chief Minister of Johor, YAB Datuk Seri Hj Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin. The MoU were signed by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Yang Berbahagia Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kasim and Regent Director of Automotive Development Centre (ADC), Dr. Zulkarnain Abdul Latiff on behalf of UTM. While, the Managing Director , Mr. Willian Rodney Yeo and also Sales and Marketing Manager, Mdm. Esther Elyena Chin Yan Har signed the MoU as the representative for Airestec Innovations Sdn Bhd.

According to the Vice Chancellor of UTM, Y. Bhg. Prof. Ir. Dr. Wahid Bin Omar, they were research activities carried out before the signing of this MoU for instance, technical data acquisition at Penapisan, Petronas, Kerteh, Terengganu of before and after process of De-Contamination and Treatment of air-conditioning system at their building.

Programme was led by Dr Henry Nasution who is a researcher at Automotive Development Centre (ADC). Data obtained was successfully published at the international conferences which were The 12th International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies (SET2013), Hong Kong and 1st International Conference on Mechanical Engineering (ICOME2013), Lombok, Indonesia. The following research activities will be done at Innovation and Commercialisation Centre (ICC), UTM Skudai building, with similar process as the above for two-months.

Some of the collaboration content are some research plans that have been developed with matters relating to i) HVAC in Automobiles and Buildings, ii) De-Contamination and Treatment of HVAC / Air-Conditioning systems to prevent proliferation of bio-film, bacteria, fungal and mould to iii) enhance human health, thus enhance quality of life and also iv) prevent asset damage and energy efficient.

As For UTM benefit, he hoped that with the signing of MoU, it will be a starting point to more collaborations in near future that utilise sharing of expertise on both ends in area that could possibly drive more research and development in this country. It will also enhance knowledge and skills of those who are involve and thus, place the university to a higher level globally.
