Professor Dr. Vijay K. Arora, UTM Distinguished Visiting Professor from Wilkes University, U. S. A., was one of the two keynote speakers on May 23, 2013 at the Seminar on Sensor Fundamentals: Nanoelectronics and Nanomaterials, held at MIMOS semiconductor facility that is developing sensors.

MIMOS semiconductor facility is situated in Kuala Lumpur where there is a chamber for continued university-industry interaction.

Professor Arora presented a system approach to the development of sensors and actuators for a wide variety of applications.  He also informed the audience that  it is possible to implant bio-chips in a human body that will sense the blood pressure, diabetic level etc. and release the drug stored in molecular chambers that can be actuated as soon as high level is detected.

Professor Arora also visited Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) and had extensive discussion with research workers in ikhoja on Advanced Materials Research.  Ikhoja is a Japanese concept to create a cluster of researchers starting from Professor level to student and technician level with visiting professors.  Many Japanese professors are part of MJIIT ikhoja consortium.

Professor Arora’s research at UTM is expected to result in outcome of a published book entitled “ Nanoelectronics:  Quantum Engineering of Low-Dimensional Nanoensemble” that has been accepted for publication by Springer (Switzerland).
