Empowerment of organizational development in 2011 will continue to be implemented in a transparent manner to make Univertisiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) more resolute and credible

UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang said that UTM should maintain a transparent image at all times so as to avoid misinterpretation or misrepresentation of its policies and actions.

“Organizational effectiveness is necessary to become more compitive and viable which entails good, accountable and credible governance implemented with strategic and impactful measures to make a difference,” he said.

He spoke at the monthly assembly of UTM staff at the Sultan Iskandar hall, Johor Bahru campus on June 6, 2011.

As for the management side, Dr. Zaini said that he and his team has been trying in earnest to improve the existing system and believes the existing system currently in place is on the right track.

“If you have any suggestions for improving the existing system, please submit it to the university management and we will invite you to join us for the realization of ideas.

“We take a very open stance, “said Zaini confidently.

The Vice Chancellor also commented on the recent promotional exercise of academic and non-academic staff conducted by UTM.

“Based on the new format for promotion, a total of 120 academic staff without doctorate qualification (PhD) who have served the university for 15 years will enjoy a promotion to grade DS52.

“We will also ensure that the non-academic staff enjoy better promotion, as new positions can be created without the need to seek consent from the central agencies,” said Dr. Zaini describing the transformation plan.

Also attending the talks were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azraai Kassim, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Tajuddin Ninggal and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Marzuki Khaled.

The gathering was also broadcasted live at Kuala Lumpur international campus through teleconferencing.
