Pagoh, Johor, 5th February: UTM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang joined Her Royal Highness Raja Zarith Sofiah binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah to visit the flood victims at the affected villages in Pagoh today.The convoy started from Pasir Pelangi Palace and stopped at its first destination to visit 1,464 flood victims from 11 villages that have taken shelter at the National Youth Skill Institute (IKBN), Pagoh.
Her Highness visited the victims who have been placed in a large hall at the institute since 1st February to give food donations. Her Highness had taken some time to witness the wedding solemnization of a flood victim and stayed over to enjoy lunch with themThe convoy had also visited Kampung Sentosa in Lenga that has been badly hit by the flood. Her Highness and the Vice Chancellor had taken a boat ride to view the houses that had been immersed in water up to the roof. Donations were given to 351 flood victims who are staying at Sekolah Kebangsaan Jorak before proceeded to Kampung Tanjung Olak that had been affected too.
Raja Zarith ended her visit by stopping at the Muar District Police headquarters for a briefing on the updated flood progress. Also present were Chairman, Women and Family Development, Johore Health and Social Welfare; Dr. Robiah Kosai, Johor State Finance Officer; Datin Paduka Zainon Haji Yusof, Deputy Director of University Social Responsibility & Strategic Planning and Management; Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, Deputy Director of Corporate Communication; Associate Professor Dr. Masputeriah Hamzah and, Senior Deputy Registrar of Vice Chancellor Office; Mr. Azham Ramli.
