PUTRAJAYA, Nov 27 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has won the Best Country Booth Award at a recently concluded international event held at Putrajaya Botanical Garden. The booth, representing Egypt, was recognized for its creative and engaging presentation among 20 other booths representing countries such as Pakistan, Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Yemen, South Korea, and more.
The event, part of the MAGNET x EduTourism series, also featured the Meet and Greet International Students in Malaysia (MAGNET) initiative, where 21 international students and two Global Buddies came together to network and share their experiences. Hosted, supported, and co-organized by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), this initiative provided international students with an opportunity to explore Malaysia’s rich cultural and educational landscape.
The event included a booth competition and an Explorace challenge, where various international student teams embarked on an exciting journey through 30 checkpoints across Putrajaya. Using random checkpoint numbers assigned via the event’s app, participants scanned QR codes and completed engaging and educational tasks, such as a quiz about Malaysia at Checkpoint 112.
The competition also featured a variety of activities, including sepak raga, bowling kelapa (coconut bowling), and a karaoke contest, allowing students to showcase their athleticism, skills, and creativity.
By the final day, the event achieved a milestone by securing an entry in the Malaysia Book of Records for the most international students participating in an Explorace event. The closing ceremony, graced by Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education, was a memorable highlight. In his speech, he commended the event’s success in fostering international collaboration and cultural exchange.
