KUALA LUMPUR, 10th Dec. – In a remarkable display of innovation and talent, students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have left an indelible mark on the national stage by clinching a prestigious spot in the Top 6 Finalists of the EY Young Technology Professional Challenge (YTPC) 2023.

Out of 86 teams nationwide, Team Bulbasaur, comprised of Chiang Yong Jie (Year 4), Tam Shue Yi (Year 3) and Hoh Chew Wen (Year 4) from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of UTM, alongside Shaun Liew from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), emerged as finalists in this exhilarating competition organized by one of the Big Four, Ernst & Young (EY). Their groundbreaking project, Greco, spearheaded the charge towards sustainable shopping practices, showcasing their unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and technological innovation.

Greco, an ingenious solution developed on the SAP platform, revolutionizes the shopping experience by offering users eco-friendly product recommendations and rewarding them with Eco-Points for making sustainable choices. Moreover, it provides businesses with valuable carbon footprint data, empowering industries to make informed decisions towards ethical sourcing and reducing environmental impact.

The journey of Team Bulbasaur from conceptualization to the final pitch at Sofitel Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 7 December 2023 stands as a testament to their dedication, perseverance, and collaborative brilliance. Despite fierce competition, their exemplary performance has not only propelled them into the spotlight but has also set a new standard for excellence in the realms of business acumen and technological prowess.
