International Seminar on Research (I-SEE 2019) & Academic Visit from STIE Pembangunan TanjungPinang to School of Human Resource Development and Psychology

School of Human Resource Development and Psychology (SHARPS), Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with Sekolah Ilmu Ekonomi (STIE) Pembangunan TanjungPinang has conducted an International Seminar on Research (I-SEE 2019) for two days on 20th and 21st October 2019. 72 students and 8 lecturers from STIE Pembangunan TanjungPinang were involved in this seminar and academic visit. The purpose of this seminar and academic visit was to provide the students with some exposure on matters regarding teaching and academic research.

The opening speech of the seminar was delivered by Dr. Abdullah bin Mohd Nawi, the Assistant Dean (External and Global Engagement), Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UTM. Throughout the 2-day seminar, several academic activities were conducted including knowledge sharing from two keynote speakers as well as among the students themselves i.e. the students of Human Resource Development (SMART), Psychology Interactive Club (PSYCHIC), and a representative from STIE Pembangunan TanjungPinang.

Two keynote speakers, Dr. Wan Mohd Azam Wan Mohd Yunus, a senior lecturer from SHARPS and Mr. Imran Ilyas, a representative from STIE Pembangunan TanjungPinang shared their knowledge with the participants regarding types of research for psychology and human resource development and also the opportunities and challenges of research in digital era.

Besides attending academic activities at SHARPS, STIE Pembangunan TanjungPinang delegation also visited Perpustakaan Raja Zarith Sofiah to explore the university’s teaching, learning, research, consultancy and publication activities supported by the library.

In the closing remarks, the Chair of SHARPS, Assoc. Prof. Dr Siti Aisyah Abdul Rahman highlighted that the 2-day seminar and academic visit from STIE TanjungPinang did not only expose the students with the knowledge on research and teaching, but it also provided an opportunity for potential collaboration in terms of research, publication and community service learning in the future.
