Kuala Lumpur, October 27, 2023 – A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Thermal Spray and Manufacturing Technology Sdn. Bhd. (TSMT), an industry that specializes in advanced and high-technology thermal spray coating and manufacturing.
The MoA was signed by YBrs. Prof. Dr. Rosli bin Md. Illias, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of UTM, and En. Zulkifli bin Ismail, Director of TSMT.
The signing ceremony was attended by YBrs. Prof. Ts. Dr. Abd Latif bin Saleh, Pro Vice-Chancellor of UTM Kuala Lumpur, YBrs. Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Zaki bin Shaikh Salim, Director of University-Industry Research Laboratory (PPMU) UTM, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohamad Zaki bin Hassan, Administrative Director, Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), UTM Kuala Lumpur, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Yusof bin Md Daud, Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics (FTIR), UTM Kuala Lumpur.
The MoA aims to enhance and strengthen research activities using the High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) Spraying Machine, which is initially owned by FTIR UTM. The areas of collaboration, as initiated by the MoA, include the development of the TSMT-UTM Satellite Laboratory, professional laboratory service, and industrial training for staff and students in support of UTM’s income generation initiative.
