UTM seals MoU with RunCloud for the Benefit of Academic and Research

JOHOR BAHRU, 18 Oct — Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) through its global prominence strategy has set its sight in developing and maintaining smart partnership with renowned institutions and universities around the world.

Recently, through the School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with RunCloud Sdn. Bhd. to maintain the academic and research collaboration on cloud technology between both parties.

The signing ceremony of this MoU was held on the 18of October 2021, via online platform, Webex.

UTM was represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ts Dr Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, whereas RunCloud was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Muhammad Arif Bin Tukiman.

The audience of ceremony consist of delegations from UTM, RunCloud, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Telekom Research & Development Sdn. Bhd. (TM R&D), Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) and Microsoft Malaysia.

In conjunction with the MoU signing ceremony, a new initiative which is RunCloud University was also launched officially.

Furthermore, a forum titled “Towards Cloud Technology: Are We Ready” was also organized which consisted of panelist from UTM’s strategic partners namely Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Telekom Research & Development Sdn. Bhd. and Microsoft Malaysia.

Prof. Datuk Ts Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail in his speech said the memorandum which would translate the sharing academic knowledge and research initiatives, would also bring many benefits to the community, universities, and industry.

Mr Muhammad Arif Bin Tukiman, who is also an alumnus of UTM said student needs to be aware of the quick changes and development of technology, and to master in Cloud Computing knowledge is not an additional skill, but a necessity, apart from their own initiatives of improving their skills.

This strategic cooperation enables the sharing and exchange in knowledge, idea, and insights between both UTM and RunCloud, in the effort to create a collaborative academic, research and expertise partnership especially in the field of cloud and computing technology.

In addition to this cooperative relation between UTM and RunCloud, it is hoped that it would further enhance the global prominence for both parties nationally and globally.
