JOHOR BAHRU, 27 Sept. — The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was being forged between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Realtech Lab Sdn. Bhd. (RLSB) to allow collaboration in the field of radiation technology.

The MoU was signed through an online platform where UTM was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Rosli Md. Illias while Reltech Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (RVSB) was represented by the Managing Director, Ir. Abdul Nasir Alang Endut.

RVSB is the parent company for RLSB which was established in 2013, the first local bumiputra private company in the radiation industry which core business to provide calibration services for survey meters and dosimeters in order to ensure the safety and security of radiation activities in Malaysia.

Among the content of this collaboration were covering the areas of teaching and learning, joint research, seminars, joint publications, exchange of current information, placement of students to undergo research/industry training and exchange of staff for post-doctoral programs.

The priority areas that become focus include nuclear and radiation safety, security of radioactive and nuclear materials and regulation of nuclear materials as well as other related areas.

Prof. Rosli said that through this MoU, a UTM-RLSB Satellite Laboratory will be established and based at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, UTM.

“UTM will assist RLSB in its efforts to promote the safety and security elements of nuclear-based technology use in Malaysia while RLSB will contribute manpower expertise, quality management system and marketing activities for radiation facility-related services in UTM Physics Department,” said Prof. Rosli who was met after the online signing ceremony.

RLSB has been accredited by Jabatan Standard Malaysia for MS:ISO 17025:2017 SAMM No: 981 since 29 September 2020.

UTM is the first public research university to be selected by Reltech Ventures Sdn. Bhd. through its subsidiary, RLSB to establish collaboration by signing a MoU for a period of five years to realize the aspirations of both parties as well as to gain mutual benefits in the field.

Through this MoU, both parties will be collaborating in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, security of radioactive and nuclear materials and regulation of nuclear materials as well as other related areas.
