Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer (PERSAKA), Fakulti Kejuruteraan, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) had decided to try something different this year by conducted e-games through a virtual sport event called Sukan Sekolah Komputeran 2021 (SUSKOM’21).

This annual event which was held from 21st May until 23rd May 2021, aimed to promote sports culture among the students. Through this event, the students were able to know and compete with each other from different courses and years of study. SUSKOM’21 had received a total of 192 participations from various faculties and externals parties.

We offered four types of e-games including DOTA 2, Mobile Legends (ML), PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Valorant which can help students improve their team communication skills.  A total of seven groups had participated in ML while three groups competed in the Dota 2 to win the RM75 e-wallet money prize.

PUBG received the highest number of participations with 60 participants (12 groups) while the hottest game, Valorant, where the slot openings were full from the beginning received participations from 30 participants (6 groups). For SUSKOM’21, PERSAKA had brought something different from other SUSKOM events held in the previous years by offering e-wallet money prizes to the winners.             

The highlight of the event was the closing ceremony which was streamed online through PERSAKA Facebook Live on the last day. The closing ceremony was officiated by Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Tariq bin Idris as the Advisor of PERSAKA. He thanked all the students including the participants and the organising committee for their cooperation and support.

He also strongly advised students to find free time to relieve stress through fun activities after a long day of studying. The ceremony was enlivened with the most awaited session, the announcement of the winners for every game that was held in three days.
