The biennial 2nd International Conference on Biosciences and Medical Engineering (ICBME2019) 2019 was conducted at the exclusive island of Bali, Indonesia. This multidisciplinary conference was Chaired by Professor Dr. Fahrul Huyop of the Department of Biosciences (Faculty of Science) and Co-chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roswanira Ab. Wahab from the Department of Chemistry (Faculty of Science) and Dr. IB Gunam from the Department of Agroindustrial Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University, Indonesia (UNUD). The main objective of ICBME is to bring together academic members at the faculty level between universities worldwide as well as to strengthen and initiate MoA/MoU and LOI partnerships. ICBME2019 is a non-profit conference that focuses on academic matters while aiming in bringing together researchers from varying disciplines to encourage translational research activities. The main outputs of the conference include knowledge sharing, networking, inter alia, socializing activities between members of different faculties. Most of all, ICBME2019 aims to publish an abstract book and peer reviewed conference proceedings in AIP indexed by SCOPUS.
Opening ceremony, by the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. A. A. Raka Sudewi
The 2nd ICBME opening ceremony was initiated by the Rector of University Udayana, Prof. A A Raka Sudewi. The two-day conference which was held on the 11th and 12th April, 2019 was attended by participants from more than 13 countries including Algeria, Turkey, Qatar, USA, Pakistan, Philippines, Japan, Nigeria, Sudan, Australia, Iraq, Malaysia and Indonesia. The participants were mainly academic faculty members and research students who are actively engaged in their research. Over 160 participants were present during the opening ceremony and keynote lectures. The participants presented their most recent technological and scientific findings relevant to the conference theme entitled “Towards Innovative Research and Cross-Disciplinary Collaborations”. Keynote speakers of the 2nd ICBME 2019 comprised of well-known and established researchers including Prof. Emeritus Dr. Chiharu Nakamura of Kobe University and currently serving Ryukoku University in Japan. The second keynote speaker was from Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Uda Hashim, an expert on Nanotechnology or Medical Diagnosis from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation at UniMAP. The plenary speakers include Prof. Dr. Nuri Andarwulan from Bogor Agricultural University, Prof. Dr. Teruo Sone from Hokkaido University, Japan and Prof. Dr. Chung-Ho Lin from the University of Missouri, USA. ICBME2019 acknowledged contributions received from the various states in Malaysia – Penang, Selangor, Malacca and Kedah and private organisations including Yayasan Felda and ADABI. Their valuable contributions have significantly led to the successful promotion and execution of ICBME2019.

ICBME2019 Keynote Lecture were given by: Prof. Dr. Chiharu Nakamura (Japan) and and Prof. Uda Hashim (Malaysia). Moderator for keynote was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roswanira Ab. Wahab who is also the Co-Chair II of ICBME2019.
