Johor Bahru, 2 February 2016 – Cordial ties between UTM and Tsukuba University (TU) Japan saw two TU staff, namely, Ms Yuko Yuhara and Mr. Kei Tanaka from Tsukuba Global Commons making a reciprocal visit to UTM International for two days from 31st January to 2nd February 2016.

During the visit, the TU team shared with UTM International, Tsukuba University’s  initiatives in promoting student mobility, implemented through the Top Global University Project and the Campus-in-Campus Program. TU also highlighted its software program named  “Tsukuba Integrated International Network Navigation System” (TIINNS) which is a database monitoring the international mobility of TU students in order to overcome risk management. All TU students are required to submit an online form before going abroad whether the trip is for an official program or otherwise.

During discussions between UTM International and its TU visitors, it was highlighted that the University of Tsukuba would very much like to welcome students from UTM for an exchange program in Japan. Additionally, the Vice President of TU, Professor Dr. Caroline Benton is also very keen to develop a double degree program with UTM through UTM MJIIT.

While on campus, the TU team was also taken on a short tour to UTM Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD) and Raja Zarith Sofiah (PRZS) library. They were also taken on a short trip to Iskandar Puteri.
