JOHOR BAHRU, 3 September 2015 – Graduate employability rate of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) undergraduates reached more than 81 per cent last year, making it one of the highest among higher education institutions in the country.
UTM Vice-Chancellor Datuk Prof. Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar said the percentage included a total of 4,000 graduates from UTM who managed to secure a job within three months after graduation.
“In fact, a total of 63 graduating UTM students from the Faculty of Bioscience and Medical Engineering (FBME) were offered employment by the industry immediately following their convocation earlier this year.”
“UTM not only emphasizes theoretical instructions in the classroom, but also focuses on additional skills needed to succeed in the actual working world,” he said.
He said this at a press conference after the launching ceremony of ‘Amanat Menteri Besar Johor bersama Mahasiswa Baru UTM’ with 2,458 newly registered undergraduate students for the 2015/2016 Academic Session held at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, UTM Johor Bahru.
The event was officially opened by the Johor State Education, Information, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee head,  Yang Berhormat Mohd Jais Sarday representing the Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
