TOULOUSE – The delegation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) attended the European Association for International Education (EAIE) conference in Toulouse, France, from September 17th to 20th, 2024. The delegation included Prof. Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International); Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, Director of the UTM International Office, and Mrs Nurulhuda Abu Talib, Senior Assistant Registrar from the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International).
The EAIE exhibition is a leading global event that brings together organizations worldwide to showcase a diverse range of fields and services. It provides an excellent platform for international higher education professionals to explore new opportunities and connect with current partners in one place. UTM’s participation in this exhibition emphasizes its dedication to ‘Scholarly Excellence’ and aims to improve its international branding by increasing visibility at the event.
During the three-day exhibition, UTM interacted with 62 universities, institutions, and associations from 17 countries. The delegation successfully facilitated the signing of 5 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), 2 Student Exchange Agreements (SEAs), and 19 Letters of Intent (LoIs). These agreements primarily focused on exploring Erasmus+ opportunities, particularly in the realm of International Credit Mobility (ICM). Additionally, UTM identified several established universities that have the potential to become strategic partners, especially in advancing initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence.
UTM has gained worldwide recognition as a top university known for its knowledgeable and highly skilled engineering lecturers. The presence of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) at the exhibition significantly enhances UTM’s engagement with international partners. This allows them to effectively address inquiries and navigate the bureaucratic processes that potential collaborators may encounter. This direct support ensures smoother partnership formation and strengthens UTM’s unwavering commitment to fostering international academic relationships.
