IBD Conducts Breastfeeding Day with Industrial Partners in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week

SKUDAI – The Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD), in collaboration with Numom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., hosted the IBD Breastfeeding Day in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week. The event aimed to support and educate breastfeeding mothers. Dr. Siti Pauliena Mohd Bohari led the event, which featured insightful talks, community engagement, and interactions with industry experts.

The program began with a welcoming speech by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr Rosnani Hasham @ Hesham, the Director of IBD, officially launched Breastfeeding Day 2024.

The morning session included key talks by Dr Siti Pauliena Mohd Bohari, discussing ‘Breastfeeding for Career Women’, and Dr Mariam Botros from Wounds Canada, who spoke about ‘Keeping Your Skin Healthy’. Dr Ngo Choon Woon from Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital (HEBHK), Kluang, followed with a presentation on ‘Breastfeeding and Prebiotics’. Madam Ilham Amani from Nufiya Empire Sdn. Bhd. then discussed “Eating Habits to Boost Your Milk Production”.

In the afternoon session, Dr Alzahraa Ahmed El Mowafi from the National Research Centre, Egypt, addressed ‘Mother and Mental Health Awareness’. Madam Nurun Nadiah Masrom from Numom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. spoke on ‘Breastfeeding or Exclusively Pumping Mothers’, and Dr. Tan Joo Siang from the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH), UTM, focused on ‘Maternal Wellbeing: Mental Health Support for Mothers and Families’. The event aimed to provide valuable information and support for breastfeeding mothers, especially those who are managing their careers and family responsibilities. The talks covered a wide range of topics, including practical breastfeeding advice, nutrition, and mental health support.

Dr. Siti Pauliena Mohd Bohari, the head of the program, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to offer this platform for mothers to gain knowledge, share experiences, and receive support from the community and industries. Our goal is to empower mothers in their breastfeeding journey and promote a supportive community.”

The industrial partners supporting this event included Numom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Nufiya Empire Sdn. Bhd., Tradisi Embah Sdn. Bhd., Rush Baby Sdn. Bhd., and Babymonsta Sdn. Bhd.
