Attendees of the courtesy visit

On November 25, 2023, an esteemed delegation led by Professor Dr. Kuga Yoshikazu, President of Muroran Institute of Technology (MuroranIT), Japan, paid a courtesy visit to the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT). Accompanying Professor Dr. Kuga Yoshikazu were Professor Dr. Mianxiong Dong, Vice-President of Muroran Institute of Technology; Mr. Ken Sakai, Bursary of MuroranIT; and Mrs. Kuga.

The visit was facilitated by the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Management team, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norhayati binti Abdullah (Associate Director, UTM International Kuala Lumpur), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Hamidah bt Mohd Setapar (MJIIT Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation, Commercialization & Linkages), Prof. Fukuda Kanao (MJIIT Deputy Dean of Liaison & Internationalization), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roshafima Rasit Ali (MJIIT Postgraduate Manager), Ts. Dr. Nor Ruwaida bin Jamian (MJIIT International Liaison), Dr. Norhuda binti Abdul Manaf (Transnational Education Manager), Dr. Shahira Liza binti Kamis (Malaysia-Japan Linkage Manager), and Ts. Dr. Khairunnisa binti Mohd. Paád (Muroran Institute of Technology Alumni).

Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norhayati binti Abdullah, the meeting commenced with a welcoming remark from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Hamidah bt Mohd Setapar, followed by a comprehensive discussion on potential future collaborations. The discourse encompassed vital aspects such as staff and student exchange, prospects for joint research initiatives, the feasibility of establishing joint and double degree programs, and the establishment of a Muroran Institute of Technology Japan satellite office in MJIIT, UTM.

The agenda further included an overview of MJIIT, an introduction to the Japanese Language and Cultural Centre, and visits to state-of-the-art laboratories including ALGAE iKohza, Chemical Energy Conversion and Application iKohza, and Communication System and Network iKohza. Additionally, the delegation explored the recently inaugurated MJIIT Sangaku Renkei Center, showcasing the institute’s collaboration with industry networks.

The visit concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation and a group photo featuring the Muroran International Institute of Technology Delegation, UTM Management, and staff members. Heartfelt gratitude was expressed to Professor Dr. Kuga Yoshikazu for his visit, with hopes that this engagement will further fortify the ongoing and prospective collaborations between UTM MJIIT and our esteemed Japanese partners.
