Jawatakuasa Kolej Mahasiswa Kolej Siswa Jaya (JKM KSJ) and Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam (PMI) came together to organize a memorable “Barakah Ramadhan 2023” program. The program featured Iftar Harian events held at Surau Kolej Siswa Jaya every Monday to Thursday over 16 days during Ramadan (from March 23, 2023, to April 19, 2023).
The program’s success was made possible through the generous sponsorship of RM28,000 provided by Pusat Islam UTM Kuala Lumpur. The financial support ensured that the Iftar Harian events were well-organized and could cater to the participating students’ needs. On average, around 100 to 120 students attended each day’s gathering, eager to break their fast and experience the spirit of Ramadan in a communal setting.
One of the program’s unique aspects was student volunteers’ active participation. Recognizing the importance of service and giving back to the community, several students selflessly offered their time and efforts to serve food to their fellow students during the Iftar Harian events. These dedicated volunteers ensured the food was done efficiently and all attendees felt welcomed and cared for.
In addition, the Iftar Harian meals were served on trays, allowing students to enjoy their meals together in a unified and inclusive manner. This communal dining experience fostered a sense of togetherness, encouraging meaningful interactions and fostering a supportive atmosphere during fast-breaking. JKM and PMI cared greatly about curating each day’s Iftar Harian menu. A diverse range of dishes catering to various dietary preferences was provided to ensure every student could find something suitable. The organizers worked closely with local vendors to source high-quality and nutritious meals, promoting a balanced diet during the holy month. The program’s venue, Surau Kolej Siswa Jaya, provided a tranquil and spiritual setting for the Iftar Harian events. It offered students a peaceful prayer, reflection, and community bonding space. The surau was a central hub where participants could unite, strengthen their faith, and forge lasting connections.
The collaboration between JKM and PMI exemplified the spirit of unity and mutual support within the UTM student community. By joining forces, the organizations created a meaningful platform for students to experience the true essence of Ramadan, fostering a sense of camaraderie and understanding. The organizing committee expresses its sincere gratitude to Pusat Islam UTMKL for their generous sponsorship, which played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the Iftar Harian events. The committee also appreciates the student volunteers who selflessly dedicated their time and energy to serve their peers during the program.
