SAE Malaysia, together with Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur, has conducted an inaugural 3-day online upskilling workshop called “Move Forward 2021” from 14 to 16 February 2021. The program was participated by almost 50 recent MJIIT’s graduates. The program began with opening remarks by the SAE Malaysia’s Chairman, followed by a welcoming speech by the respectful Dean of MJIIT, Prof. Ts. Dr. Ali bin Selamat.
The workshop’s main aim is to provide assistance and guidance to the graduates in terms of career planning and self-development post-graduation. The participants were introduced to career opportunities in their field of study and tips on good resume writing and interview preparation. Furthermore, as graduates in engineering, the participants were reminded of mandatory registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. On top of that, they were exposed to professional qualifications with the BEM and Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT) that they could pursue in the future. On the workshop’s final day, the graduates were introduced to a programme by Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (also popularly known as MARii). The workshop was closed with a sharing session by alumni of MJIIT who shared their experiences in obtaining jobs in Malaysia and Japan.
Overall, the programme was successfully held, resulted in an increase in the graduate employability rate of MJIIT’s graduates from 55% to almost 95%. Due to this success, the Move Forward programme is expected to be held as an SAE Malaysia’s annual programme.
