PUTRAJAYA – Three ready R&D projects were showcased and demonstrated to Perbadanan Putrajaya under the Smart City Initiative on 5th October 2020. Along with the CEO of DreamEDGE, Datuk Khairil Adri Adnan, the event was participated by the Chief Deputy Director, Mohd Musabri Shaharom and Information Technology Officer from the Smart City Division, Faizan Norhayati Othman.
The collaboration was the product of a successful partnership between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and DreamEDGE Sdn. Bhd., particularly under the umbrella of AIM4STAR. The first-of-a-kind demonstration synergised three UTM iconic projects: Guardexpert Pro by Telecommunication Software & Systems, Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Pleco by Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIRO), and Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (UROV) by Institute for Vehicle System and Engineering (IVeSE).
Guardexpert Pro, an Internet-of-Things (IoT) based security guard patrolling system was presented and demonstrated to the Administrative Division of Perbadanan Putrajaya by Dr. Mohd Adib Sarijari and Dr. Rozeha A. Rashid, who were also joined by the head of Perbadanan Putrajaya security, Razali Ngatiman. The real-time demonstration was performed to the stakeholders from Level 7 at Perbadanan Putrajaya where they were able to see the live tracking of the patrolling and live reporting from the command centre, while the patrols were making a complete round.
The second demonstration was conducted by CAIRO team, led by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad ‘Athif Mohd Faudzi. The demonstration took place outside, near the Perbadanan Putrajaya complex at the small pool to show how the robot merged into the water and cleaned the surface. This session was also participated by the Facility Management Division of Perbadanan Putrajaya.
ROV was demonstrated at Taman Seri Empangan Presint 5 to the Perbadanan Putrajaya management, along with officers from Bahagian Alam Sekitar, Tasik dan Wetland. Represented by Dr. Azman Abas, IVeSE team demonstrated how the robot dived into the water and showed a live reporting from the robot to the display as the ROV dived deep into the water, approaching pillars to check their conditions.
These cutting-edge innovative solutions are highly sought by Perbadanan Putrajaya, especially when they are homegrown solutions. Through the opportunity with DreamEDGE, it is hoped that all three UTM iconic solutions can be of service to Perbadanan Putrajaya soon.
