Faculty of Science Graduate Employability Enhancement Program (GEEP2020) – Kick Start & Industrial Career Forum

This program was funded by the Office of Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affair) under the initiative of Pelan Global Universiti (PGU3) which was mainly targeted at all final year students (Department of Biosciences, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematical Science), Faculty of Science. GEEP 2020 has four modules; Module 1 (Jumpstart! & Career Forum), Module 2 (Resume Writing), Module 3 (Personal Grooming & Creating Good Impression), Module 4 (WOW your Interview) and will end with a Mock Interview by industry representatives, alumni and lecturers. The first module was held on 14th February 2020, 8.30 am to 12.30 pm at Lecture Hall 7, Block N24, UTM Skudai.  The aims of the program are stated below:
• To understand current talent needs in the industries.
• To identify and bridge the competency gap among graduates.
• To enhance leadership skills to prep the graduates towards VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) World.
• To Prepare students towards employment.
The main GEEP2020 objective is to increase graduate employability (GE) rate of UTM and Faculty of Science, specifically. Besides, to support and provide guidance to all Faculty of Science final year students to be future- and job-ready graduates by getting the tips from the industry panels to build students’ self-awareness and their career plan. The forum panels were Dr Shankar Ramanathan (Biospout Sdn. Bhd.), Mr Max Wong (Director, Impact Volution Training and Consultancy Sdn. Bhd.) and Mr Prabageran Thiagarayah (Kerry’s Ingredient, Continuous Improvement Manager Sdn. Bhd.) and hosted by Miss Ching Xin Huey, Continuous Learning Advisor at Impact Volution Training and Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. Miss Ching and Dr Shankar both are the alumni from the Faculty of Science, UTM.
