To all UTM Community,

The situation surrounding COVID-19 outbreak is very well under control in UTM. The University is taking preventive measures as stipulated by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and District Health Office (DHO) Kulai.

As of 7 March 2020, there has not been any positive case of Covid-19 recorded in UTM campus although the University has requested that a number of staff and students undergo quarantine, or known as Home Surveillance.

This is because those students and staff fall under the category of Person Under Surveillance (PUS) as they had just returned from high risk countries or had close contact with Person Under Investigation (PUI) who is a suspected case (not yet confirmed). So the home surveillance is necessary following the SOP by MOE as preventive measure.

The university would like to appeal to everyone in UTM Community to refrain from posting and sharing unverified news with people on and off campus about Covid-19 so as not to create panic. Please refer to UTM Community Facebook for the latest update on Covid-19 or you can contact Covid-19 UTM Hotlines at the following numbers:
UTMJB Hotlines:010-800 1337; 011-3334 0646
UTMKL Hotline: 016-7962100

Please note that any posting or sharing of false news or fake news is an offence under Section 233 Communication and Multimedia Act (AKM) 1998, which can be fined up to RM50,000 or one-year imprisonment.
