UTM International organized an event to welcome all new international students (full time and inbound mobility) on September 14th. This is part of the UTM Internationalisation at Home (I@H) agenda with initiatives to introduce UTM Campus and Johor Bahru city to the new UTM International students. The event was joined by a total of 158 UTM Inbound Mobility students consisting of the new exchange & internship students from UTM partner universities world-wide, 400 UTM new full time students , and was assisted by UTM Global Buddies and UTM International Students Orientation Programme (ISOP) Buddies.
For Inbound Mobility students, the students will spend a maximum of 1-year duration at UTM. We are so proud that they have chosen UTM as their study abroad destinations. The participants gathered at the respective checkpoints at around 1.30 pm and the campus tour started with a visit to “Tasik Ilmu UTM” where the participants had a photo shoot with the “UTM My Home” signage as the background.
The participants then went to the crown arch at Bukit Serene Palace where they took pictures and were briefed about the palace. The third location the participants went to was Puteri Harbour where the participants were allocated an estimated time of 30 minutes to perform Asar prayer for the Muslims, and sightseeing for the non-Muslims. The last destination for the JB city tour before dinner was “Kota Iskandar”.
The participants were given the chance to take as many pictures that they want of the government buildings that make up the Johor state Centre of Government Administration. Around 6.30 pm, all buses for UTM Inbound Mobility Students headed to De Roza Steamboat & Fresh Seafood Restaurant for their welcoming dinner and the buses ferrying UTM new international full-time students headed to Bazaar Karat, one of the famous happening night bazaars offering stalls for clothing, trinkets, housewares & street food. The tour ended at 10.30pm.
