KATHMANDU, 19 August 2019 –Seven Malaysian delegates including the Deputy Dean of Faculty of Engineering (FE), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Prof. Dr. Sevia M. Idrus presented a paper at the 56th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Asia-Pacific Region held in Nepal.
The 56th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia-Pacific Region is hosted by Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal was held at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kathmandu, Nepal. The conference was officiated by the Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal, KP Sharma Oli.

Carrying the theme of ‘Harmonizing Efforts to Meet the Capacity Constraints’, this programme has received a total of 332 participants from 34 states and 14 International organizations around the globe.
The meeting focused on issues of air navigation and safety along with the economic development of aviation through cooperation between countries of the Asia Pacific region.
The seven delegates members from Malaysia  was led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), Ahmad Nizar Zolfakar consisted of Prof. Dr. Sevia M. Idrus, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Engineering (FE) UTM, CAAM Deputy Director, Mahyudin Sajuri, Senior Assistant Director of CAAM, Raslina Yahya and Zubir Meerah, Senior Manager of Malaysian Airport Holding Berhad (MAHB), Captain Masri Mahmud from ExxonMobil Malaysia, and Captain Adnan Harbi from Sylmax HCS Sdn. Bhd.

The paper presented by the Malaysian delegates entitled ‘Foreign Objects Debris Detection System (FODDS) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) was written by UTM and Malaysia Airport with the help from its Japanese collaborators, The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), Tokyo and Hitachi Kokusai Electric.
