Johor Bahru, 4 July 2019 – The 2nd ICT-enabled in-service Training of Teacher to Address Education for Sustainability (ICTeEFS) Managerial Meeting and Training Workshop granted by ERASMUS+ was held at Pulai Springs Resort, Johor Bahru. The program was organized  through a successful collaboration of partner universities from five countries; Frederick University (Cyprus), University of Crete (Greece), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (Indonesia), Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia), Ho Chi Minh City International University (Vietnam), University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam), Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia), Open University Malaysia (Malaysia) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia). This program has been awarded a grant (2019 – 2022) in which its aim is to develop curriculum and teaching methodology modules that help to integrate education for sustainability. The program was also a continuation of the first workshop which was held in Cyprus in February 2019.

On Day 1, the program started with presenting managerial issues, involving reporting activities, potential problems and impacts by each partner university. Then, a talk on risk analysis and strategies was delivered by Professor Dr. Vassilios Makrakis from Frederick University assisted by Professor Nelly Kostoulas from the University of Crete.

On Day 2, a total of 75 undergraduate courses have been chosen by the partner universities to be reviewed in addressing aspects of education for sustainability. Participants from partner universities were trained in applying the DeCore plus methodology for the course revision.

On Day 3, participants were trained in preparing ICTeEFS standards, competences, performance indicators and resources. Clarification on rules and procedures for staff employment and purchase of equipment was delivered in the afternoon.


On Day 4, all collaborators visited the Tanjung Piai National Park, IKS Keropok Lekor Tanjung Piai and Rumah Bugis Abd Hadi Ambok Ingtang. The visit and program ended with a farewell dinner at Restoran Yeo Sekeluarga, Gelang Patah. The workshop will continue on 10 – 14 January 2020 in Bandung, Indonesia.
