JOHOR BAHRU, 27 August 2018 – As many as 142 participants from Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have attended the 12th International Civil Engineering Post Graduate Conference (SEPKA) and 3rd International Symposium on Expertise of Engineering Design (ISEED) conferences.
The SEPKA-ISEED’18 was held at Le Grandeur Palm Resort, Senai, Johor and officiated by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development), Prof. Dr. Azlan Abdul Rahman.
The Chairman of SEPKA’18, Dr. Mohamad Hidayat Jamal said that SEPKA-ISEED’18 was the second international joint conference between School of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UTM and National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kogoshima College, Japan.
“The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Spectrum of Opportunities’ which expressed a wide range of engineering breakthrough in terms of approaches and methods, advanced technology, professionalization, experiences and culture.
“This joint conference will provide an exchange platforms for the participants from different backgrounds to meet and share ideas, achievements as well as experiences through the presentations and discussion,” he said.
Dr. Mohamad Hidayat said along the theme ‘Spectrum of Opportunities’, the SEPKA-ISEED’18 has invited four distinguished keynote speakers, Ir. Frankie Cheah, Geotechnical engineer from AECOM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharifah Kamilah Syed Yusof, School of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UTM, Prof. Shigeki Uemura from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kisarazu Collage, Japan and Dr. Hidayat himself.
“These events are important to promote and encourage the application of new techniques to practitioners as well as enhancing the knowledge of participants with the current requirements of analysis, design and development of any science and technology project worldwide,” said Dr. Hidayat.
About 142 papers will be presented by the participants from 14 institutions of the five countries mentioned above in this two-day programme.
Also attending the launching ceremony were Prof. Dr. Khairul Anuar Kassim, Chairman of School of Civil Engineering UTM, Prof. Choji Tetsuji, President of NIT, Kogoshima College and Prof. Takashi Tsutsumi, Chairman of ISEED’18 and Professor at NIT, Kogoshima College, Japan.
