JOHOR BAHRU, 19 November 2017 – Faculty of Education,UTM was invited to attend International Seminar on Education Big Data-Driven Education Reform held at Qufu Normal University China on 10-13 November 2017.
During the visit, both institutions took the opportunity to discuss activities which can foster and enhance academic and research collaborations such as staff and students exchange.
Qufu Normal University is a public university located in the city of Qufu, which is the ancient home of Confucius, and in Shandong province, China.
UTM delegation consisted of Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Sukri Saud, Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation, Commercialization and Networking, Associate Prof Dr Yusri Kamin, Director of External Relation of China-ASEAN TVET Development Mutual Aid and Associate Prof Dr Noraffandy Yahaya who was invited as a keynote speaker of the seminar.
Associate Professor Dr Noraffandy Yahaya delivered a keynote speech entitled ‘Big Data in Education: Current and Future Trends’.
This seminar was also attended by participants from New Zealand, Netherlands, Taiwan, Malaysia and China.
The theme of the seminar was “Big Data-Driven Education Reform” and topics covered during the seminar were education decision-making and governance, education quality monitoring and evaluation, teaching mode improvement, teachers’ professional development, students’ learning and progress, international and comparative education and theories and technologies of big data in education and the discussion on how Big Data would help educators to improve education delivery.
This seminar offered a platform for Faculty of Education, UTM to strengthen its internatioanal colloboration with other higher learning institutions in Asia.
