JOHOR BAHRU, 21 July 2016 – The Ramadhan Fund of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for the year 2016 has increased to RM 216,543.40 compared to 2015 which recorded RM 135,227.00.
The additional amount of RM 81,316.40 was credited to the extensive effort of UTM staff who took the initiative to collect funds to finance the activities during the month of last Ramadan.
UTM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ir. Datuk Dr. Wahid Omar in his speech at the university monthly gathering said that the contribution given was including daily ‘iftar’ preparation which costs as much as RM3, 500.00 to RM4, 000.00 per day.
“An overwhelming number of improvements. Thanks to all contributors of UTM Ramadan funds from all faculties and departments, individuals, companies and society inside and outside the campus for donations of cash or goods, “he said.
The Vice Chancellor also called on all staff to reflect upon themselves and appreciate the trust and responsibilities given to them.
“Obviously, UTM has put harmony and universal prosperity as our goal. As staff, we should understand the role of UTM as an institution of knowledge aimed at producing a knowledgeable society, “he said.
He added that UTM staff must understand and be aware of the burden carried, maintain a good character, integrity, respect for diversity, be sustainable-minded and able to form a harmonious and prosperous life.
Prof. Wahid then joined the university staff for the UTM 2016 Hari Raya Celebration at Dataran Agora.
