JOHOR BAHRU, 24 May 2016 – The Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) with the collaboration from several sponsors including Huawei (M) Sdn. Bhd. has organized the Electrical Engineering Students Showcase (EESS) 2016.
The EESS 2016 is an annual event organized by the FKE meant for its final year undergraduate students to present and demonstrate their final year projects to a panel of evaluators.
The 2016 EESS Coordinator, Dr. Syed Abdul Rahman Al-Attas said that as many as 300 contenders have contested in this competition.
“The main participants are all final year students who have successfully completed their project. This year approximately 100 academicians and 53 personnel from industries took part as judges,” he said.
The main event started with a speech given by the Dean Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Johari Halim Shah Osman followed by a robot dance gimmick, and a video montage about EESS 2016 which held at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, Johor Bahru campus.
“The climax of the event was the announcement of the competition result of each projects showcased.
“The prizes come in 3 categories of medals such as Gold, Silver and Bronze. In total, there were 24 Gold, 35 Silver and 51 Bronze Medalists,” said Dr. Syed Abdul Rahman.
Apart from these medals, there were also other awards sponsored by professional bodies such as IEEE Signal Processing Society, Young Professional Society, Dielectric Electrical Insulation Society, IEEE Student Branch and James Dyson Foundation Award.
Besides displaying their projects for evaluation, the EESS 2016 was also the best platform for the participating students to display their projects to the public, replacing the conventional departmental project assessment.
