JOHOR BAHRU, 24 July 2016 – Assoc. Prof. Ir. Hayati Abdullah from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FKM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has been invited as guest of honor at the 20th convocation of the Ibrahim Sultan Polytechnic (PIS) that took place in the Main Hall of that institution.
This honour was given to Assoc. Prof. Hayati as Chairwoman of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) for the Southern Branch and her involvement in professional bodies in Malaysia and abroad.
Assoc. Prof. Hayati was also given the honour to deliver the Diploma, Academic Co-curriculum Excellence Award, the Best Project Award and the Industrial Award to Mechanical and Electrical Engineering graduates during the convocation session.
A senior lecturer in the Department of Thermo Fluids, FKMUTM, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Hayati was the first woman to be appointed to the post of Chairperson of the IEM for the Southern Branch.
Among the awards received were the IEM Woman Engineers Award in 2015, the National Academic Awards 2010, UTM Best Academic Advisor Award 2008 and UTM Best Lecturer Award 2005.
The PIS 20th Convocation ceremony that recently held witnessed 627 graduates received their Diplomas and Certificate.
