The Logistics and Transportation Research Group, Centre for Innovative Planning and Development (CiPD), Faculty of Built Environment, organised a one-day International Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Seminar on 25th February 2016 at the Convention Hall, Faculty of Built Environment, UTM, Johor Bahru. The seminar which was officiated by the Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor Dr. Roslan Amiruddin is a joint collaboration between CiPD and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Built Environment, UTM.
More than 50 academicians, researchers and students attended the event, with a total of 11 papers presented by renowned Professors and researchers from South Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia. All the papers addressed topics on sustainable urban infrastructure development in urban planning, urban environment, transportation and social planning.
The seminar also saw the establishment of an agreement for continued academic cooperation through joint research, publications, academic programs and hosting of seminars between researchers of participating countries. The Ho Chi Minh City University of Transportation, Vietnam will host the forthcoming seminar next year.
On the second day of the seminar, a technical tour to the Tanjung Piai National Park was arranged for interested participants. During the tour, the participants were briefed on the geographical and ecological significance of Tanjung Piai by the Resident Officer of the Department of National Parks.
