JOHOR BAHRU, 30 September 2014 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to allow strategic collaboration was signed between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) with Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor (KPRJ) Petroleum Sdn. Bhd. and Isunsg Management Sdn Bhd respectively.
The agreement was signed at Banquet Hall by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar on behalf of UTM while KPRJ Petroleum Sdn. Bhd represented by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Zulkifli Abd. Rani and Group Managing Director Isunsg Management Sdn Bhd, Y.Bhg Dato’ Amrul Hisyam Alias as the signatory for his company.
The Vice-Chancellor in his press conference session held after the signing ceremony said that UTM appreciate the positive role played by the industrial stakeholders in the area of Research and Development (R & D) that could provide benefits to the local community, the nation and the world.
“Collaboration with industrial partners is the key elements that contribute to achieve this target.
“I am confident that our agreement with KPRJ Petroleum and Isunsg Petroleum will be an excellent platform to explore opportunities in the developing and developed countries,” he said.
He said cooperation with KPRJ Petroleum will enable UTM to contribute expertise, research, publications, educational materials and providing best human capital in the oil and gas industry, particularly in the state of Johor.
“This collaboration will also be the main entity to support the vibrancy of this industry in Johor while strengthening foreign investment and deliver improvements in local economic sector,” he said.
Commenting on the collaboration with Isunsg Management, Prof Wahid said that the partnership with the company will further enhance the research efforts especially in the field of green technology.
“The company has expertise in the reduction of energy consumption that was commercially used for air conditioning system.
“Isunsg Management Sdn. Bhd. has implemented a hydrocarbon refrigerant technology and achieve at least 12 percent energy saving for air-conditioning systems for clients in various industries such as manufacturing, retail, hospitality and many more,” he said.
Both sides will be collaborating in the field of technology development, including the hydrocarbon refrigerant capacity and the safety of using hydrocarbon refrigerants in air conditioning systems.
“UTM will also work together in an effort to increase the number of professionals for the development of green technology industry sectors, particularly natural refrigerants such as hydrocarbons,” he said.
